Espresso tamping is a skill that is often neglected in espresso preparation. The aim is to create a condensed coffee pellet through which the hot water from the espresso machine can penetrate evenly. Since the water from the espresso machine is under pressure, the espresso pellet must be compressed and evenly tamped. The water jet will always flow from an area of high pressure to an area of low pressure. It is therefore important to prevent low resistance paths in the coffee pellet and force the water to penetrate evenly and extract the coffee essence. This precision-engineered level tamper is the perfect tool to help you accomplish this task. It is adjustable in height/depth and has a diameter of 58mm.

This tamper achieves perfectly vertical tamps with each press whether being used in the busiest of specialty coffee cafes or home baristas. A calibrated 25lb spring ensures identical tamping, even between different people. The tamping depth can be adjusted between 0 to 14mm. The diameter of ripple steel base is 58.5mm.
